Top Makeup trends for Fall / Winter 2015

I cannot believe winter will soon be upon us – literally – as all I can see looking out of my window is sun, sun and again sun…. This is of course due to the fact that I have recently relocated to Dubai, leaving seasonal London behind me.

However, it doesn’t really matter where we live in the world as we can still be inspired by the changes a new season bring.

What’s important is to keep it ‘real’; beauty on a runway show is there to enhance the look the designer has envisioned with his or her collection. Sometimes a bit much for everyday life, but they can all be adapted for a more wearable look.

For fall/winter we see a variety of different trends and there is most certainly something for everyone to take inspiration from.

Red Lips

AGAIN – you might think…it does seem like red lips are always in -which they are in one-way or other! For the past few seasons however strong lips have been playing a laidback role in favor of more natural looking lips. For Fall we see a variety of shades ranging from classic red to plum and browner reds. I am a fan of red lips and the fact that there is a perfect shade for everyone. I wouldn’t go blind trying to match the exact colour the designer has opted for on the runway or the shade of the moment, instead concentrate on finding the one that suits your complexion the most.

The shades vary a lot, but for fall/winter matte is often the key.

Healthy, active lifestyles are the essence of this trend. Go for warm peach and rosy pink blushes. Apply on your apples for best result.

There were many designers to take inspiration from: Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Jason Wu, Kate Spade, Donna Karan, Chloé, Balmain, Topshop Unique….just to name a few!

Yes, as simple as that – it is time to line your eyes again. From classic to artistic to futuristic, from sharp to smudged -the choice is yours.  Personally I am more for the classic look and absolutely love the unpretentious smudged kohl penciled eyes at Roberto Cavalli.

Gloss, Sparkle and Shine

With colder seasons come clothes from darker palettes. Play this up with shimmer-, sparkle- or sequin-lined eyes. Choose whatever is most flattering for you gold, silver or bronze.

Just do not overdo it! Choose a specific area and contain it there, it could be a line across you lower lids, a dot at either inside or outside corners of you eyes or the inner half of your eyelid.

Pair with glossy lips for a modern twist. I love the Swarovsky crystal line and glossy lips seen on Rodarte models.

Smoky Eyes

This all-time favorite is keeping its hold on us for this season as well. To succeed with this look…blend, blend and blend.  If you think black is a bit too much, try shades of grey, brown or green instead.

As always with statement eyes – keep the rest of the face neutral.

Layers of lash

Fortunately for all of you that have invested in lash extensions – long, full lashes are in!  But even if you haven’t, with help of either falsies or layers and layers of mascara you can still easily achieve this trend.  I especially like the lashes at Giambattista Valli, so simple but yet striking!

Power brows

Fuller, precisely groomed eyebrows make a power statement this season. Take care and fill in your brows stroke by stroke for a polished full shape.
